Essential Supplements to Naturally Support Healthy Cholesterol

Cholesterol conversations usually start with what to remove. It is more useful to start with what to add, because the additions are what change the reading.

Soluble fibre comes first. Oats, beans and unripe plantain bind bile acids in the gut, which nudges the liver to pull more cholesterol out of the blood. Two servings a day is the working dose.

Plant sterols come second. They compete with cholesterol for absorption, and a small daily amount is enough. Look for them in fortified spreads or a labelled sterol capsule rather than assuming a general multivitamin covers it.

Omega-3 supports the whole picture without moving LDL much on its own. If you eat fish twice a week you already have it; otherwise a good fish oil is a reasonable substitute.

Everything above works slowly. Give it eight to twelve weeks before judging, keep a note of the numbers, and let your doctor adjust anything they have prescribed rather than changing it yourself.
