Simple Daily Habits for Balanced Blood Pressure

8 October 2026 · 5 min read · Senara Editorial

Blood pressure responds to patterns rather than gestures. One long walk will not undo a week of short sleep, and one green smoothie will not undo a week of delivered lunches. What moves the number is the ordinary thing you do most days.

Start with salt you can see. Most of the sodium in a Nigerian kitchen arrives from seasoning cubes and processed stock, not from the salt shaker. Halving the cubes and leaning on ginger, garlic, uziza and scent leaf gives back flavour without the volume.

Then protect sleep. Seven hours, at a consistent time, does more for a resting reading than most of the supplements advertised alongside it. If you wake unrefreshed, that is the habit to fix first.

Finally, take the reading properly. Sit still for five minutes, feet flat, arm at heart height, and take three readings a minute apart. Write them down and look at the weekly average rather than any single number.

Supplements can sit alongside these habits comfortably. They cannot replace them. If your readings stay high, see your doctor.
